On Saturday June 13th we took to the stage in Horwich Parish Church for a full concert to be given by Eagley Band and our MD Chris Wormald.
Our varied and very well received programme featured everything from new pieces we had never performed before to favourites of recent years such as ‘Ain’t That A Kick In The Head’ which we first played for BBC Radio 2 Children In Need ‘live’ to 7 million listeners three years ago, when welcoming Bolton celebrity Vernon Kay back to the Bolton Wanderers stadium at the end of his ultra marathon.
Led as always by our superb Principal Cornet Lynsey Hayes, our featured soloists for this Horwich fundraising concert were Flugel Horn player Janet Walsh playing ‘By Trevone Bay’ and Euphoniums Marcus Rowbotham and Eleanor Knowles performing ‘The Folks Who Lived On The Hill’ to a very full and rightly enthusiastic and appreciative audience.
Just prior to the conclusion of the concert, it was announced that over £1,500 pure profit had been generated for the church’s tower fund from our evening. Not even a clash with the World Cup could prevent another excellent turn out for us again.
