Eagley And Wingates Band Players Feature In ‘Brassed Off’ At Bolton’s Octagon Theatre This Month

The new 2024 professional theatre production of ‘Brassed Off’ runs at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton from Thursday September 5th through to Saturday September 28th and we at Eagley Band are delighted to be involved throughout, just as was the case in the same Bolton theatre ten years ago.

This latest professional production is a three month long joint venture, a co-production between professional theatres in Keswick, Scarborough and Bolton, and whilst the actual cast of actors remains the same for all of the near-100 performances, each of the three towns involved is using different local bands to augment the acting cast members who play brass instruments themselves.

Just as a decade ago, this new 2024 production involves players from both Eagley and Wingates bands here in Bolton.

Led by our principal and leading cornet players Lynsey Hayes, Steve Wheeler and Becca Crompton, each performance of the play’s Octagon Theatre run will feature around 8 players from either Eagley or Wingates bands (some performances a joint ensemble of 4 players from each band) but the full bands of Eagley and Wingates cannot be used due to limited space as the play is staged centrally, in the famous Octagon round. Each performance will feature a slightly different team of instrumentalists.

Led by actors Barney Taylor (playing the Ewan McGregor role of Andy) and Hannah Woodward (playing his love interest Gloria), even before opening night, tickets for the three week Octagon run are virtually sold out and very few seats are available at any of the performances.
