Once again this November it was our great honour at Eagley Band to lead the Remembrance Sunday march and parade through Little Lever as we have done for many decades whilst at the same time, divide our player resources in two by having part of the band also play at the Walmsley Cenotaph in Bromley Cross. After lunch, the full band always comes together each year to give a full afternoon concert in Little Lever Conservative Club from 2pm through to 4pm.
Unlike most Novembers, Remembrance Sunday this year was one of the hottest and sunniest any of the band members and our MD Chris Wormald can recall, and at times the extent of the heat was not only unexpected for the march and hymns outdoors, but band members had to play the indoor afternoon concert without wearing band blazers over our black shirts as many players were affected by what was an extreme November day.
The band was delighted to receive a standing ovation at the conclusion of the afternoon concert and we will return to the same venue on Friday 2nd December at 7.45pm for what is traditionally the first of our full Christmas concerts every December.
